Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information I collect when you visit this website or work with me, what I do with it, and the choices you have. "I" and "me" means Luis Federici, an independent web designer based in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.

What I collect

When you use the contact form or email me, I receive the details you choose to send: your name, email address, current website URL (if provided), your project details and your reply preference.

If we work together, I may also receive the text, photos, logos and business details you want on your website, and temporary access to accounts such as your domain registrar or hosting provider so I can set up your site.

Like almost every website, the server that hosts this site may automatically record basic technical details for each visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. These logs are used for security and to keep the site running.

How I use it

• To reply to your enquiry.
• To plan, build, launch and support your website if we work together.
• To keep business and tax records I am required to keep.
• To protect this site from spam and abuse.

I do not sell, rent or share your information for marketing, and I do not send newsletters unless you ask for them.

Services I rely on

A few trusted services help me run this site and my business. They only receive what they need to do their job:

• My form provider processes contact form submissions and forwards them to my inbox.
• My email provider stores the messages we exchange.
• My hosting provider serves this website and may keep the server logs described above.

Some of these services store data outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information is protected by the provider's own privacy commitments and may be accessible to authorities in that country under its laws.

Cookies

This site does not set tracking or advertising cookies and does not use analytics that follow you across other sites.

Account access

If you give me access to your domain, hosting or other accounts, I use it only for the work you asked for. Once your site is live, I ask you to change your passwords or remove my access, and I delete any login details I was sent.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to a project are deleted within 12 months. Client records are kept as long as needed for the project and for legal or accounting requirements (in Canada, usually six years). Project files may be kept longer so I can help you with future changes, unless you ask me to delete them.

Security

I use reputable providers, strong passwords and two-factor authentication to protect the information I hold. No method of sending or storing data is perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to keep yours safe and will tell you promptly if a breach affects you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, privacy laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights over your information. Wherever you are, you can ask me to:

• show you the information I hold about you;
• correct it if it is wrong;
• delete it, unless I am legally required to keep it;
• stop using it for a particular purpose.

Email luis@luisfederici.com and I will reply within 30 days. Where the GDPR applies, I rely on your consent or on my legitimate interest in answering your enquiry and running my business. If you are not satisfied with my answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.

Children

This site and my services are meant for businesses. I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle your information, I will update this page and the date at the top.
